Are You Compassionate?
Say you spend 10 days with someone you love and 9 out of the 10 days are amazing and then on the 10th day they do something to hurt you. Have you already planned a loving celebration for the moment they make it right or are you rehearsing ways to hold them to their mistakes?
This is powerful because I don't know how many times I have seen situations turn, I become frustrated and come up with scenarios like "If this person chooses this, then I know I'm going to respond this way". More often than not this is how we handle issues when the alternative can be to ask, "God in this moment that I do not agree or understand, please give me the wisdom and grace on how to respond and interact with this individual".
Let's look at it this way, what if someone already had payback lined up for all the mistakes you've made? Simmer on that and be honest with yourself about what type of grace you need to give because God extended it to you. It may be a friend, coworker, family member, spouse or even a complete stranger, but have that moment of intentionality and choose to respond graciously. The scripture did not give an option, it says you MUST be compassionate.
You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
